Our humble beginnings
A Journey of Compassion
At Ability Care Choices, our story is one rooted in compassion and a desire for positive change. It all began with a simple yet powerful belief in the inherent dignity and worth of every individual.
Founded by David, Brian and Elise, individuals driven by care and compassion for disabled people, our journey started with the aim of making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
With a passion for empowering individuals and a commitment to providing compassionate care, we set out to create a service that not only meets needs but fosters genuine connections and promotes independence. From our humble beginnings to where we are today, our dedication to our mission remains and we continue to strive in everything we do.

Meet our team

Elise
Registered Nurse
- Bachelor of Nursing Degree completed in 2011.
- Currently undertaking Post Graduate Certificate in Emergency and Acute Care Nursing.
Rehabilitation Unit - Assistance in activities of daily living such as showering, toileting, feeding, dressing and mobilisation with emphasis placed on encouraging patients own participation and to develop their abilities.
Surgical Unit – Administered medications via oral, subcutaneous, intravenous, intramuscular and enteral methods via PEG and NG tubes. Prolific in managing a variety of dressings from simple wounds to complex VAC dressings.
Emergency Department – Caring for patients of all different ages across the lifespan with a variety of acute and chronic medical concerns. Adapting to everchanging, fast-paced environments to deliver quality and evidence-based care with a compassionate disposition.
Aside from nursing, I also enjoy home maker tasks such as grocery shopping, meal preparation and cooking and pride myself in my cleaning abilities from showers, toilets and bathrooms, to kitchen, living spaces and bedrooms.

David
Registered Nurse
- Has a Degree in Nursing and Graduated in 1996 at Sydney University Hospital.
- Post Graduate Certificate in Emergency and Acute Care Nursing.
- Registered Nurse since 1996, working in Cardiology, Coronary Care.
- Emergency for the past 21 years.
- I worked at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital but studied my degree at the University of Sydney.
Cardiac Services - in the middle East Servicing a general Muslim Community.
General abdominal Surgery Unit - comprising mainly of acute pain management, and large dressings to surgical wounds and Pressure area Care.
Rural and remote - served in the NT working in Acute Care caring for mainly toores Strait islanders and aboriginals.
Psychiatric Nurse - both in an acute Care word and in the community caring for acutely unwell Mental Health patients.
Leadership, education and mentorship skills enable me to participate in a collaborative and supportive role to enhance and achieve patient and organisational outcomes.
Communication and collaboration with Key stakeholders to facilitate good client outcomes.
Also enjoys lawn mowing and whipper snippering.

Brian
Endorsed Enrolled Nurse
Working in Central Sydney Area Health Service in a trial for people with intellectual disabilities living in a household together. In fact one of Brians clients met Micheal Jordan at the Sydney Olympics.
Working in discharge Liaison roles finding accommodation for the frail and elderly and insuring that plans were in place for their level of support that they had needs.
Brian works in Surgical Services and has a wonderful rapport with clients of all disabilities of all ages.
Able to aid in daily activities of living such as meal preparation.
Brian also worked as a case manager co-ordinating and providing care for people with intellectual disability and acquired brain injuries.
Brian also spent 10 years in hospital pharmacy as project Officer and Purchasing Officer and has an extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals.

Scott
Personal Trainer
- Current registration with fitness Australia.
- Currently studying a bachelor of sport and exercise science degree at USC.
Personal trainer for 20 years.
Personal and group trainer in London 2009-10.
Have worked with the NDIS as a personal trainer and coach for 5 years.
Have extensively worked with and is currently working with individuals with disabilities.
Coached Australian and International athletes at Olympic games and world championships in swimming.
Lover of all sports mainly AFL.
Proud Husband and father.
Absolutely love my job and working to help others improve both physically and mentally no matter the level or situation.
I've been in the health and fitness industry for 20 years and having a broad range of life experiences, my ability to empathise, connect and get results with clients is my priority. Being punctual and having attention to detail are also some strong points I pride myself on.
